Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is a life drawing class?
A life drawing class focuses on sketching or painting a live human model, often nude, to study the human form and improve observation skills.
2. How often do you run your classes, and where are you based?
We run our classes monthly. Though there is no fixed schedule, we generally run them within the second half of the month.
We bounce around different venues in and around London, to keep it interesting. In the past we’ve run classes everywhere from art studios, to the seaside!
The best way to find out of any upcoming events is by signing up to our newsletter here, as our tickets sell out quite quickly.
3. Do I need prior experience to attend?
No prior experience is required. Our classes are suitable for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced artists.
We start our classes with light guidance, then slowly with a hands-off approach towards the longer poses at the end.
4. What materials should I bring?
We provide everything! If you have any specific mediums you like to use, we ask you to provide those yourself.
5. Are the models nude? What if I’m not comfortable drawing nude models?
Yes, as with most traditional life drawing classes, the model is nude. This is standard practice for studying the human form. If the class involves clothed models, it will be specified.
It’s understandable if you feel uneasy at first. Many artists find that discomfort fades with time as they focus on the artistic process. If it’s a concern, you might want to look for a class that uses clothed models.
6. Can I bring a camera or take photos?
Photography is strictly prohibited during the live session to respect the privacy of the models.
However, you are free to take photos at the start of the class before the models arrive, during the break, and after class.
9. Do I have to show my drawings to others?
The class is a safe space for personal growth, and you can choose how much to share. We like to encourage artists to look at each other’s work, but this is not a requirement.
11. Is there an age requirement?
You must be 18+ for nude sessions. For clothed sessions, there is no age requirement.
12. What is the etiquette during class?
Remain respectful to the model and other participants. Keep noise to a minimum, and avoid unnecessary movement or distractions. It's also important to arrive on time, to avoid distractions for the model.
14. I can no longer attend, can I get a refund?
Refunds can be issued up to 72 hours before the event (be prepared to have a small refund fee charged by Eventbrite)
Any refund requests made within 72 hours leading up to the event will not be approved.
